Charges of Negligent Homicide

St. Rita's Nursing Home owners in Louisana are being charged with 34 counts of negligent homicide. They were told to evacuate the patients because of the hurricane and they refused. The patients subsequently died because they were unable to care for themselves when all the able bodied people left the home.

By the way, the death toll in New Orleans is has jumped from just over 270+ to over 400. This includes the 20+ patients in the hospital died and then they (Fox) said rescuers found 23 people lashed together who apparently were trying to get out through the flooded streets.

Going to double check the details. So sad...and horrible.

Update: The owners are claiming it was a difficult decision to make but they thought the patients would be okay. Their decision was supposedly based on what happened with hurricane Ivan. They had evacuated the patients that time and had several die when they were stuck in traffic for 12 hours.

I'm speechless!

I'm looking for more information on these stories, too. It's hard to imagine that so many people could have abandoned the helpless in their charge.

They were talking about it on Fox, but I don't know that they had it on the website yet. Here is a link to this particular story:
