New Section in My Shop

I've added a new section to my Etsy Shop. It's a place for the bride-to-be to find that perfect sparkle to enhance her own beauty or to find her bridesmaids a wonderful gift. Check out "Wedding Jewelry" in my shop!

Bridal Lace

I've just finished a piece for a custom order (I still have the earrings to figure out). This is a choker for a bride. The prototype is the silver and her piece is the cream. Her dress is champagne and cream and gold. I am so excited for her to see it, but I don't want to show her until I've finished the set.

Destashing My Bead Boxes

Over the years I have impulse purchased some really beautiful beads. Unfortunately, they have sat in my bead box and I've maybe used one or two of the different types of beads. So, I decided it was time to clean out the bead box. Maybe someone can buy these gorgeous beads, create something really wonderful and I can purchase some more Delicas, which I use all the time!

If you're looking for some different beads (stone, square, stars), check out my Etsy Shop and see what I've got to offer in my "Destash" section!

1st Etsy-versary

One year ago today I opened my Etsy shop: A Rose By Name. Though it started out very, VERY slow, it's been much better in the last 6 to 8 weeks. I've learned a lot about promoting and photography and marketing, but I still have an awful lot to learn! One day, hopefully, I'll be able to create beadwork for my livelihood instead of working for someone else!
This was my first sale. It didn't come for about 6 weeks and it was to family, but it was the start.

PurrfectlyDevine Jewelry Designs

I am relatively new to beading and I love taking classes to learn new techniques. I began selling because co-workers liked my work and asked if I would sell to them. I opened a shop because people I didn't know would comment about how much they liked my jewelry. Friends encouraged me and helped me get set up and my husband is supportive of my efforts. I have sold a number of pieces through an Open House my sister held for me. I also crochet and am thinking about adding some crochet pieces to my shop in the future.

My full-time job is a special education teacher and I work in a grocery store deli part-time. My husband and I have one daughter who is pretty much on her own and planning to get married in 2009. We share our smoke-free home with 3 cats and one grandpuppy who are banned from the bead room.

Katrin Lerman Jewelry

I come from a family of makers and have been doing jewelry since I was a little girl (if making friendship bracelets is considered jewelry ; ) Originally from Germany, I settled in Massachusetts, US almost ten years ago. I can’t believe it has been such a long time already! Nonetheless, I draw inspiration from my German childhood as well as from the time spent here and from every little moment I can remember happening in between. Sometimes, photographs of finished jewelry pop into my mind and I have to quickly run to jot them down before they are gone. Other times, I have an idea in mind and it takes a lot of drawings until I have figured out how to best do what I was thinking about. Of course, those sketches are not written in stone and I often change a design while I am making the piece to arrive at the best end result possible.

I graduated from the New England School of Art and Design at Suffolk University in Boston with a Degree of Fine Arts in Interior Design. Interior Design is all about color, form, and texture – and that’s what I’m integrating in my jewelry designs.

Now that I have a beautiful baby girl, I try to spend every free minute (and those of you who have a baby know that there are few) creating jewelry. Naturally, I have lots more time thinking than creating and so my sketch book is filling up with ideas for years to come. I can’t wait to get working on all those ideas and designs!!

I am a stay-home mom and I love being able to see my daughter grow everyday... with that said I also need something to keep me sane. So I make stuff! I just recently started making jewelry so it is my habit right now but I also love making anything on my computer. I do all of my scrapbooking digitally. I create Christmas cards, birth announcements, birthday invitations etc. I have a degree in graphic design so that is my passion. I would never actually work in the advertising world (too much pressure) but I love using those skills for personal use or for friends, etc. I love to look at a craft and figure out how to make it myself. That is why my shop is kind of ecclectic. Anyway, I live in Dallas and I will ship to anywhere. Outside of the USA there is an additional charge though. Thanks for stopping by!!

Diana's Darnings

I'm a 26 year old mother of one amazing 10 month old boy. I've worked hard for the last three years to put my husband through school and am now taking time for myself.

I love to sew and create. My mother taught me to sew at a very young age. I despised it then, but as I grew older I realized the wonderful gift she had given me.

I started out sewing flannel baby blankets inspired by my little boy. The blankets you'll find in my shop are homemade and much larger than the avearge receiving blanket. Made to last for many years of love.

I work hard to create items I would use or give as gifts myself. After all, we are our own worst critic, right?

Check back often to see new additions to my shop.

Berry Beads

Hi! My name is Rosi and I have always loved crafts. It is especially nice when the things I make are practical as well as pretty. I have many different interests and making jewelry is a new passion to bring out my creative side.

Designing and making jewelry pieces is a new passion of mine. I've been selling my ID badge lanyards at work and they have been quite popular. Each lanyard is a unique creation and is made to last.

Lulu is one of the cutest cats out there. She has great big eyes and really soft fur. She reminds me of an anime cat, but only better–no crazy effects...though her purr could use a little more volume.

EBW "Red" Challenge - Voting Has Begun

Don't forget to get your vote in on the Etsy Beadweavers Challenge "Red"! There are 42 entries and the decision is tough, but join in the fun and maybe find that perfect Valentine gift!

Etsy Beadweaver Blog

Ooooo! After you vote, go over to Carol Dean's blog and comment. You could win one of her GORGEOUS bracelets!

Cigarbox Beads

Marilyn is another Etsy Beadweaver and she has gorgeous pieces! Her entry into the Etsy Beadweavers Monthly Challenge is fantastic! This theme is "RED" and she's definitely hit the mark with this fabulous choker! "Scarlet Sez Fiddle Dee Dee". Be sure to check out her shop and her blog to find out what our Marilyn is up to!
I became a non-stop beadweaver when I purchased 3 vintage cigarboxes full of beads at a flea market---about 20 years ago. I'm still using those beads, plus a 'few' more I can not help but purchase!

I'm a retired Home Ec teacher, loved what I did, love what I'm doing now.

Beadweaving is my joy AND being with our twin grand daughters. Not at the same time though, they love to 'help'! We do have 'crafting time' every day that I watch them, so I hope I'm instilling the love of creating in them.

I also knit, sew, crochet, decoupage and lots and lots of other stuff so some other goodies might show up here as well, along with beads!

Happy looking!--here and at my other etsy site - http://suchandsort.esty.com. I also just took the big plunge into blogging- come see me there- http://cigarboxbeads.blogspot.com

I've also joined Etsy Beadweavers and am a humble participant!

My name is Cheryl, and I love the outdoors! I also love playing with my beads and seeing what I can come up with to make.

God's creation is one of my favorite themes for my work. I think everyone would have to agree how wonderful nature is.

I'm a mom of 2 teenagers, and wife of a trucker. I love God! I am hoping to hike the Appalachian Trail in a few years. I'm also hoping to be able to supplement my husband's income by selling beadwork and other creative art pieces.

Contemporary Original Art by Pamela E. Miller

“By cultivating the beautiful we scatter the seeds of heavenly flowers, as by doing good we cultivate those that belong to humanity.” Robert Heinlein

“To Change One’s Life: Start Immediately. Do it flamboyantly. No exceptions.” William James

These are just a few words that I like to live by. I feel that creating art is a way of sharing your soul with others. As you will see in my artwork: sometimes I am very flamboyant and always colorful, sometimes confidant and peaceful, other times angry or chaotic. I think all of my emotions; passions come out in my works. Sometimes I layer it on thick (paint and words) and other times I flirt with the canvas with light feathery strokes. My art reflects my beliefs in love, warmth, generosity, loyalty, and honesty. I’m inspired by science, fantasy, martial arts, architecture, and nature (especially water).

90 Features in 90 Days Challenge

I just wanted to let anyone who signed up for the 90 Day Challenge that I haven't forgotten about updating. I'm waiting for Pippit of Giftbearer to update the list. Hopefully she'll be doing that soon. There have been a lot of people who said they were going to participate and then haven't, so she has been keeping tabs on those who are actually participating, it just needs to be updated for the latest participants.

To sign up to participate or to post your feature for the day, see this Etsy forum thread: 90 Features in 90 Days Challenge "New" thread

To see the updated lists of participants, see this Etsy forum thread: 90 Day Challenge Updated Participants List

Of course, we've gone beyond the 90 days (this started October 1st), but have not reached the 90 features, so this will continue.

Inspired Jewelry by Ann Burke

Ann is one of my fellow beadweavers and we are members of the fabulous Etsy Beadweavers Group. There is something so amazing about her freeform pieces! I don't know how she does it! And her doily earrings...well, you just have to check them out because they will knock your socks off!

I love to work with beads. Especially seed beads and gemstones. Everything that is in this shop is made by Me one bead at a time. Nearly all of my items are "One Of A Kind" OOAK. I never make another item exactly the same. It's not as interesting the second time.

I live in South Burlington, Vermont in the USA. I love to bead. Seed bead weaving by hand and gemstones are my favorite.

I am a Wife and Mom. I have 2 great kids, a boy age 12 and a daughter age 10. They are both Basketball stars at the moment. We also have 2 cats and a toy poodle. We live in Vermont, it is quite cold and we have a couple of feet of snow at the present time.
