A Quiz (while I sort out other issues!)

Slow and Steady

Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy.

They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder.

It'd really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment.

They expect you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then usually decide against it.

CIA Being Sued By The ACLU

I'm not overly fond of the CIA and the fishy smell of Wilson, Plame, and Goss's garbage, as well as the "inexplicable" and numerous leaks, but even the ACLU has gone too far when they sue the CIA. Despite some liberals' beliefs, we are in a war against terrorism and it is necessary to interrogate terrorists. If that means they need to be transported to other facilities then that's what needs to be done. The ACLU should have nothing to say about it. Do they not claim to be the AMERICAN Civil Liberities Union? Should they not restrict their interference to the US, even though we wish they would just shut up? Here is what they are claiming:
"The lawsuit will charge that CIA officials at the highest level violated US and universal human rights laws when they authorised agents to abduct an innocent man, detain him incommunicado, beat him, drug and transport him to a secret CIA prison in Afghanistan," the ACLU said in a news release.

The release identified the jail as the "Salt Pit".

The group did not provide the name or nationality of the plaintiff, saying only that he would appear at a news conference next week to reveal details of the lawsuit.

The ACLU also wants to name corporations which it accuses of owning and operating the aircraft used to transport detainees secretly from country to country.

The highly secretive process is known as "extraordinary rendition" whereby intelligence agencies move and interrogate terrorism suspects outside the US, where they have no American legal protection.

It has become extremely controversial, the BBC's Adam Brookes in Washington reports.

Some individuals have claimed they were flown by the CIA to countries like Syria and Egypt, where they were tortured.

The US government and its intelligence agencies maintain that all their operations are conducted within the law and they will no doubt fight this case vigorously, our correspondent says.

He says they will not want to see US intelligence officers forced publicly to defend their actions and they will not want to see one of their most secret procedures laid bare in open court.
Well of course there will be claims of torture whether they are true or not. The terrorists know that the mere appearance of impropriety will bring the wrath of the left down on the right and further widen the chasm between the two. Whatever happened to the wartime premise of "loose lips sink ships?" Oh, that's right, it went out with the big-mouthed, America-bashing, anti-Vietnam groups. You know, the groups led by and promoted by people like Jane Fonda and John Kerry. There are certain security issues involved with war that must be kept secret. In this age of 24-hour cable news and free exchange of information over the Internet, it is even more important to keep national secrets, secret. The ACLU is proving that it doesn't care about American National Security. They would rather defend the terrorist who would happily kill you.

Not surprising, but the quoted information is provided by the "America loving"

Yeah!

Safety wins out over the ACLU or in this case the NYCLU. Court votes to keep the searches despite the people yapping over "private property" or time constraints. I would gladly spend extra time in line and open up my bags for searches if it meant I could be assured that I wouldn't get blown up once I was on the subway! Stop the ACLU has the story in more depth.
Well of course they plan to appeal, they wouldn’t want common sense to prevail! I understand the ACLU’s concern on this. No one wants to live in a police state. However, I think they are completely overzealous in this. The majority of people do not mind being searched if it means they will live another day. Besides, the ACLU would have another fit if we were to try to implement profiled searches. And they have even proven through their lawsuit in Tampa against Raymond James Stadium that they are against searches across the board. The irony is that on their own building they have a sign that says you may be subject to search upon entering. The ACLU have twisted a legitimate attempt to protect NY’s citizens into a scare tactic method completely overexaggerated. Why can’t they see what most people can? The threat of being blown up is a greater risk, than the far fetched idea of a police state.
A win for safety...let's hope their appeals don't go anywhere!

Silly Quiz Time

I just had to take a break from the aggravation of today's political climate, so here, have a silly quiz!

Your Career Type: Artistic

You are expressive, original, and independent.
Your talents lie in your artistic abilities: creative writing, drama, crafts, music, or art.

You would make an excellent:

Actor - Art Teacher - Book Editor
Clothes Designer - Comedian - Composer
Dancer - DJ - Graphic Designer
Illustrator - Musician - Sculptor

The worst career options for your are conventional careers, like bank teller or secretary.

Glad I was an artistic type! I could see the book editor, sculpter, or illustrator. And when I was young I was going to be a clothing designer. I don't think I could be the actor or comedienne, though...too "center-of-attention" for me.

Washington Democrats Do Not Speak for Me!

I am getting so tired and disgusted with the sweeping generalities the politicians on the left are using. They keep stating that a majority of Americans want us out of Iraq. How would they know? They didn't ask me, they probably didn't ask any of you, either! I finally decided to let my congressman know. I am asking him to be my voice and let other politicians in Washington know that those on the left do not speak for everyone as they would like people to believe. This is what I wrote. It probably isn't as polished as I would like, but I was pretty ticked off!
Please, please do not let a few very vocal Democrats get the rest of congress running scared about the war in Iraq. We (many, many of my fellow bloggers and I) do not want the soldiers pulled before their mission is complete. We believe the soldiers on the ground. They tell us that things in Iraq are getting better and better and not worse as the left and the media would have us believe.

Please be our voice and let the other Republican politicians know that we are behind the soldiers AND their mission. They want to finish it and we stand behind that! Please do not let the soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice be martyrs to the Democratic party line. Murtha, Pelosi, Dean, Reid, Kerry, etc. DO NOT speak for all of us. Please let them know that "all Americans" do NOT want what they want!

If anything would prove that the mission is important and needs to be finished, it's the soldiers who are re-upping for their 3rd and some even 4th tour in Iraq. Or the soldiers who are injured or have lost limbs who want nothing more than to go back and finish the job with their men. The anti-war group is feeding Al-Jazeera's thirst for dissent in the US and they in turn are feeding the insurgents. Please do not let them get away with it!

Thank you for your time and please consider all that I have said and listen to all of your constituents.

Anna Neff

I suppose that it sounds somewhat egotistical, but it was only meant to let him know that I am not one of the people the Democrats are supposedly speaking for. The problem we on the right have is that we are not being as vocal as the left. We need to let our politicians know what we think and feel just as much as the loud-mouthed lefties do.

The Numbers That Really Count!

Over the past several weeks the MSM has been obsessed with numbers such as the 2,000 soldier lost (God rest their souls) in Iraq and today it was the 1,000 person put to death under the reinstated death penalty. Well, here are numbers from Confessions of a Military Recruiter that mean so much to the people of Iraq and the soldiers laying down their lives for their freedom! Numbers that you won't see anywhere in the MSM.
  • Over 2510 schools have been rebuilt.
  • More than 5.5 million children are back in the classroom, and girls now outnumber boys. Overall attendance during exam week was 97 percent.
  • More than 51 million new textbooks - without propaganda - have been distributed to students.
  • Trained 33,000 teachers, and set up first ever PTA associations.
  • Iraqi teachers now earn up to 25 times their salaries before liberation.
  • Gave school supplies to over 2 million students.
  • Encouraged girls to attend school, first ever all-girls schools open. Female enrollment is up 96% in Iraq schools.
  • First Iraqi Fulbright Students and Scholars in 14 Years Come to the United States.
  • 15 of 18 provinces representing 75% of the Iraqi population are free and stable.
  • Iraq has satellite TV previously outlawed by Saddam. ALF is one of their favorite satellite shows.
  • Cell phones are now allowed in Iraq. Under Saddam, they were a crime punishable by death.
  • Our brave men and women in uniform freed 24 million Iraqi people from a brutal dictator.
  • Iraq has over 500 free papers for the first time ever- they speak, write and print what they want.
  • Government Rape squads no longer patrol the streets of Iraq to interrogate and kill families.
  • Street sweepers in Iraq make $3 per day, the same as teachers made under Saddam.
  • Street vendors make 30 times what they made under the thumb of Saddam Hussein.
  • Hundreds of Iraqi cities and towns have electricity, sewer and running water for the FIRST TIME EVER! They no longer have human waste running down the streets!
  • US Forces have trained hundreds of thousands of Iraqi Police and Iraqi National Guard Soldiers. Soon Iraq can stand on it’s own - Just takes time.
  • First EVER FREE Iraqi elections on January 30th, 2005 - 60% voter turnout
  • First ever Iraqi Constitution that values FREEDOM and ends discrimination and values ALL Iraqi people - approved BY THE PEOPLE on October 15th, 2005 - 60% of voter turnout again!
There is much more information in Recruiter's post, so please go and read it. These are the numbers that everyone should see.

Now to the number of soldiers lost. Yes, we mourn the loss of our soldiers, but they are not numbers. They are people, not numbers to be bantered about and desecrated by the MSM and Cindy Sheehan and her cohorts. They are mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, daughters and sons. They have names and families and we will remember them by name, not by what number they were. We will thank their families and honor their memory for the ultimate sacrifice they made for not only Iraq's freedom, but our safety.

Day By Day

Don't you just love Day By Day? Chris Muir really nails the various issues going on these days. Today's strip is perfect after the MoveOn.org screw up with their "slam the right" ad for the holidays! It's so great when the left gets bit on the butt from their own people! Thanks for the great strips Chris!

More Than She Appears To Be

Dorothy Ivey is not your typical grandmother. In fact, there is nothing typical about this wonderful woman. She is a construction representative at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Gulf Region Central’s remote Al Asad office, west of Baghdad. She was eligible for retirement in October, but opted to stay in because she wanted to serve in Iraq.
“I’m just not the retiree-type person right now,” the grandmother of three says. “My husband is retired and he’s great at it. I’m sure it’s nice, but I really don’t intend to do it anytime soon.”
Back in Alabama, Dorothy's husband, grown children, and grandchildren are concerned about where she is serving yet they support her choice to stay in the Army and serve in a war zone. She misses her family, but she believes in the mission in Iraq. She knows that her job of keeping track of construction progress on schools, medical clinics, and a hospital is very important for the future of the Iraqi people.
“I think these people wanted freedom and what we’re doing is helping provide that,” she added. “Some never had a say in the direction their country was taking. Considering the recent vote on the constitution, now they do. Can you imagine living without having these rights? I definitely wanted to get involved and do my share.”
Dorothy's been in the Middle East before. She served a year in Iran from 1974-75. She also served in Honduras from 2000-01, but this is the first place she's worked that she's had to fear mortar rounds. She stays cautious and trys to stay close to base. When she is driving around she always trys to stay in another vehicles tracks because of the possibility of IEDs. She is also concerned about the soldiers serving with her but she is also very proud of them as she watches them leave the base everyday.
“I’m so proud seeing our troops and (I) admire every one of them for what they’re doing and the courage they show every day as they head out the gate,” she said. “They’ve got a great attitude.”
When asked what she will do when her six-month tour is up she said that she "wouldn't hesitate" to stay for another tour!

They're All The Same To The Left

I don't know if the MoveOn.org television ad ran in your area, but it did in mine. It was the emotional Thanksgiving ad that they put on the air decrying the U.S. "Occupation" of Iraq. They show pictures of families crying together, an empty chair at the table, and then there is a picture of troops in line for chow. It is during the last picture that the line "150,000 U.S. soldiers are stuck in Iraq" is flashed on the screen. Now here's the funny part. The troops in the picture, well, they're British! The Brits have lighter uniforms and shorts. Shorts are not issue for U.S. soldiers! MoveOn.org tried to change it by darkening the picture and photoshopping the shorts into pants, but that didn't work too well, so MoveOn ended up pulling the ad.

Check your pictures to make sure you're showing the correct troops! DUH!
Who's that Soldier in the Uniform?

Liberal activists at MoveOn.org have yanked an anti-war ad blasting the administration for leaving U.S. troops in Iraq over the holidays after the Pentagon pointed out it used British soldiers to represent Americans in Iraq. The picture appeared as the ad's narrator says, "A hundred and fifty thousand American men and women are stuck in Iraq."

But a Pentagon spokesman tells Cybercast News that American men and women wear darker fatigues with a different pattern and don't have shorts as part of their combat uniforms. After trying to fix the error by doctoring the original photo to darken the uniforms and put long pants on the soldier in shorts MoveOn.org removed the ad from its Web site.

Beyond Words, Beyond Understanding

The hackers are at it again! Grey Eagle's been attacked again. This time it is her polls. Why do people do this? Does it give them a thrill to ruin a tribute to a fallen friend? Do they feel more powerful for doing it?
I will hope and pray this will be the last time I have to post another message like this. But if not, know that I will not be defeated. I will not let your emails refering to me as a "baby killer", your calls for me to walk away from my duties, your questioning of my loyality to this country discourage me. I will not let your small minded attacks to my website deny me my voice, I have earned that right. And I will not continue to allow you to insult the visitors who come to this website to read or learn about life here. This is not a political website so please refrain from making it one. I will begin to delete your comments, I will backup this website so as to overcome your attacks, and I will await the completion of the new website.
